when Chani Yeza And a few fellows decided to take a boat out on the delta near their home in Argentina, not realizing they’d end the day with an extra crew member.
It all started with the sight of a desperate swimmer in the distance.
Turns out, a random dog was paddling toward their vessel in the middle of the delta.
It’s not entirely clear how the dog got to that spot, so far from shore and far from any other boats, but Yaza and his friends knew one thing for sure: the poor dog helped them. There was a need.
So, slowing their boat, they jumped in – and into the water – to get the exhausted dog to safety.
Here’s the moment on video:
From there, Yaza and her friends continue to enjoy their day on the water – now with the lucky dog.
“We named it Delta, because that’s where we found it,” Yaza told The Dodo.
Delta, which had likely been abandoned somewhere nearby, was now safe. And Iza made sure he stayed that way.
After their day of sailing was over, Yazza arranged for Delta’s future care.
“We gave it to a woman who runs an animal shelter. She was very happy,” Yaza said. “Delta is in great hands.”
